The Montana Healthcare Foundation (MTHF) would like to recognize and thank Caring for Montanans (CFM), an entity that has been instrumental in MTHF’s establishment and growth over the past decade.
MTHF was created in 2013 as a result of the sale of the nonprofit Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana (BCBS-MT) to Health Care Services Corporation. By state law, when such a conversion occurs, the assets accrued by the nonprofit health insurance company are transferred to a charitable trust to benefit Montanans.
The transfer of assets was a complicated and lengthy process. CFM took on the critical role of handling and resolving all remaining BCBS-MT business affairs. Because of their tireless work and dedication, MTHF has received nearly $180 million, which we use to improve the health of Montanans on an impactful and sustained basis. CFM’s work is complete, and it dissolved in July.
MTHF board of trustees and staff would like to recognize and thank CFM and its directors and officers for the productive relationship over the years, an ongoing atmosphere of mutual trust and respect, and tireless diligence in preserving assets so they could be used to improve health in Montana in perpetuity.
