We help organizations apply for federal, state, and private grants for projects that advance solutions to high-priority health problems. We use our funds and staff expertise to support grant writers, conduct data analysis, convene potential partners, and develop strategies.
Our annual budget amounts to only a tiny fraction of the total cost of health care in Montana each year – far less than 1%. Since we cannot support every great program for the long term, we make our dollars count by leveraging our resources and expertise to bring outside funding into the state and help organizations become more sustainable.
With this initiative, we have brought nearly $117 million in federal, state, and private grants into the state.

In 2023, we helped nine partners secure over $10 million to support treatment courts, teen pregnancy prevention, the 988-crisis hotline, and maternal mental health and substance use treatment programs.

SPOTLIGHT
Mountain Home Montana
Mountain Home Montana is a nonprofit organization in Missoula that provides shelter for young mothers who need a place to live and a support network as they create safe, stable, and nurturing homes.
In 2023, we hired a grant writer to help Mountain Home Montana apply for a $2.8 million federal grant to expand its residential substance use disorder treatment program for pregnant and postpartum women. Mountain Home Montana was awarded the grant and is currently working to expand its capacity.
This grant will be transformational for our organization and the families we serve. It will help us hire additional staff and grow our residential and outpatient substance use recovery services. We now have the improved financial capacity to meet the needs of our community.
